Thank you to everyone who came along to support the ‘Scholar Ship’ at the Tonbridge Dragon Boat Race on Sunday. Our staff team made quite a splash, both literally and figuratively!
After a strong start, and heading at full pelt towards the finishing line, the boat suddenly capsized dramatically leaving the staff swimming to the safety of the bank or the lifeboat.
The staff team proved to be brilliant role models, and as the Tonbridge Daily Facebook site expressed it: “The positive message that emerged was the way that this fabulous team of educators handled the situation. The smiles, determination and sense of occasion said it all. It’s just how we want our teachers and leaders to handle difficult situations, and they deserve 10 out of 10.”
Despite the team’s dramatic departure from the race, all was not lost, as they were crowned ‘Best dressed’. All in all it was a great day, and we’re hoping to join the race again next year.
