Nine Weald students from Years 9 and 8 have competed in the First Lego League Tournament this year in Canterbury.
Last week’s event involved the designing and building a robot which was then programmed to complete a series of tasks on a competition map.
Science coordinator Rob Cooper said: “The girls performed extremely well at this and even managed to correct programming errors on the day to ensure an even higher number of points was achieved.
“They also completed a presentation on an architectural design problem in the area and made a fantastic presentation on Gracious Lane Bridge and how it could be improved increase safety. Although the girls did not walk away with the grand prize, they performed fantastically and should be commended for their great achievement.’
The tournament was organised by the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
